Video Marketing Trends for 2022

“What’s the easiest way to do videos if you don’t want to show your face?”

Videos, with no surprise, are becoming more popular by the year, with short-form video being at the main forefront. With the rise of TikTok, Instagram reels, Facebook reels, story pins, and now YouTube shorts small businesses are going to have to step up their game for 2022 and the years to come.

Fun fact Viewers retain 95% of a message presented to them in the video as compared to 10% when reading text.

But let's be real a lot of us started our business in a time where videos were not that popular. I remember being anonymous for years when I first started my business. So getting on camera is quite an overwhelming and daunting task for many, including myself. That’s why I rely so heavily on getting creative by not showing my face all of the time.

I want to help you use video to your advantage while not having to show your face ALL OF THE TIME. Even big time business women can’t show up 24/7!

The power of Video

Video not only builds trust and long-term connection with your audience but it also opens up the door much quicker for potential new onlookers onto your brand. 83% of video marketers claim that video content helped them generate more leads.  With a lot of people still hesitant to use video in their marketing, being one of the first in your niche will surely help you stand out.

But you don’t have to do it all alone. There are many ways to get creative with video.

Here are just 3 easy ways to get creative with video.

Normalize stock videos for small businesses

Stock videos were mostly known for short video clips also known as “B-Roll” inserted in longer videos or graphics to help jazz up a film, commercial, or tv shows. These stock videos aided in the help of developing the storyline. Stock videos have been used in commercials, movies, even reality tv shows like “Keeping up with the Kardashians”. Those overhead shots of the stunning beaches of California aren’t always taken just for the Kardashians.

You can use stock videos in a number of ways such as:

  1. On your homepage above the fold

  2. Create short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube

  3. In social media posts for quotes, carousels, or stand-alone posts.

  4. Use them in blog posts to add visual interest

  5. Add them in long-form videos as b-roll as you talk through a specific topic

These are only some ways to use stock videos but there are many more ways to use stock videos that we have yet to unpack. But these are sure to get you started in the right direction.

3 video trends for 2022 to look forward to

I want to share with you 3 trends you need to take into consideration for the years to come. I want to make sure you are in the best position possible to rock 2022! I found the 3 best, yet introvert-friendly trends that will help you show up more for your business next year without it overwhelming you. So let’s get into it!

Short-form videos are In demand.

Every platform you can imagine from Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, to even YouTube are making their own form of short-form video features. Tiktok has proven to be the master of short-form video and many other platforms are jumping on the bandwagon because they too understand the demand for videos that are quick. Creating bite-sized videos get more engagement than long-form videos on social media right now.

The best way to incorporate this for your business is to build curiosity. When creating videos, think about how you can build curiosity to feed the attention of your audience. Create video series, tutorials, and how to and end on cliffhangers or tell them to read the caption for more information on a particular topic. You can also come up with calls to action that entice your audience to take the next step. Whether it’s to view the caption, head to your stories, or head over to the link in your bio.

You can do this with stock photos, stock videos, BTS using your own camera, and little snippets of yourself before transitioning to a graphic.

Silent Videos are increasingly powerful

Raise your hand if you have watched most of your stories and videos on social media with no sound. Yep, probably all of us! This means that if you want people to stick around and watch your content, you need to optimize it for silent viewing. Perfect for those that still can’t stand the sound of their own voice *cough* ME!

More than ever, people who do not have hearing disabilities are using this method to easily get the information they need without having to actually listen to anything. Think about it, how many times have we’ve been viewing something in public or *cough* at work and didn’t want others to hear it.  85% of watchers listen with no sound on Facebook. So in order to make sure your message comes through, always have captions or text overlapping your video to explain your content. Including subtitles can increase an online video’s view-through rate by 80%.

You can use stock videos in an intentional way by Adding captions to your videos to make it easier for people to digest these short-form videos. You can still add music or voiceovers as well. The main thing is that you are giving options to everyone. This will make you ahead of the pack and stand out in your industry.

Explainer Videos are necessary

84% of people are more swayed to make a purchase when the product or concept is explained in a way that is digestible. Explainer videos are quick, memorable videos that help make an impact on potential buyers but they may still need more information before making that investment.

The average attention span can last up to 2 minutes. So explainer videos can help maximize attention by giving people what they need to know quickly without all the fluff.

You can do this seamlessly with stock video by explaining how your product helps your audience by cutting to different scenes that are relatable to the mood that you want people to feel when viewing your products. Adding voice-over, audio, and captions makes for a rock-solid explainer video.

Use explainer videos to explain how to do something. Create tutorials, talk about your business through graphics, share testimonials from your audience and bonus points if you can get some of them to create testimonial videos!

What’s next?

The power of video is here to stay. It’s proven to be the lead generator in many successes over the last couple of years and with video dominating the online universe you will need to pivot your marketing. But you don’t have to do it alone.
